Dubai has topped the list of the world's cleanest cities for the fifth year in a row.
According to the Global Power City Index (GPCI) report by the Mori Memorial Foundation Institute for Urban Development Strategies (Japan), the city scored 100% in terms of cleanliness. Environmental conditions are one of the main criteria for the global sustainability of cities in the rating.
The emirate, which aims to become a benchmark for cities of the future, including in terms of environmental excellence, outperformed more than 47 cities around the world in the rating, scoring 100% satisfaction with street cleanliness. As you know, Dubai is implementing a comprehensive waste management strategy to reduce waste generation by 18% and divert 100% of waste from landfills by 2041.
Dubai Municipality is implementing advanced technologies, including intelligent waste collection and transport systems, the use of electric vehicles for cleaning and energy optimisation. Such measures are helping to reduce carbon emissions and conserve natural resources.
The city's leadership and success is based on teamwork, innovation and commitment to high standards,' said Marwan bin Ghalita, Acting CEO of Dubai Municipality.
It is worth mentioning that 2,400 kilometres of roads, 1,419 km2 of investment zones, 33.4 km of canals and bays, as well as residential and industrial areas are cleaned daily by a team of more than 3,200 professionals and a fleet of 855 modern vehicles. Dubai also provides medical and hazardous waste disposal, furniture recycling and abandoned vehicle removal.
