Emirates to Build a Residential Community in Dubai for Its Cabin Crew

One of the largest residential projects of recent years is launching in Dubai, aimed at employees of the aviation industry, in particular Emirates cabin crew. The project in question is the specially designed Cabin Crew Village — a modern residential environment intended to accommodate up to 12,000 crew members. The volume of investment is estimated at several billion dirhams, and the project itself is already being described as a strategic element of the emirate’s long-term development of aviation and urban infrastructure.

Scale and implementation timeline of the project

The project envisages the creation of a large multifunctional residential environment with an emphasis on comfort, logistics, and the everyday needs of crews. Construction work is planned to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with completion of the first phase scheduled for 2029. The development of the area will be carried out under a long-term land lease format, which corresponds to modern practice for major infrastructure projects in the UAE.

Crew Village is conceived as a next-generation autonomous urban space capable of providing stable accommodation for employees working on flexible schedules and frequently changing time zones. This is especially relevant against the backdrop of the recovery and further growth of global air travel in 2025–2026, when international passenger traffic has already exceeded pre-pandemic levels.

Architecture and residential environment

As part of the project, 20 modern residential buildings of 19 storeys each will be constructed. They will offer a variety of housing formats — from one-bedroom apartments to spacious three-bedroom residences. Layouts are being developed with the specifics of cabin crew work in mind, where quiet, post-flight recovery, and functional space are of particular importance. Each building will be equipped with its own infrastructure facilities, allowing residents to access everyday services without the need to move across the entire complex.

Lifestyle and community spaces

Crew Village is positioned not merely as a residential area, but as a full-fledged lifestyle project. The territory will include a multifunctional community center with shops, restaurants, and cafés, as well as medical clinics and modern fitness spaces. A special emphasis is placed on residents’ health and well-being, in line with global trends.

The project is oriented toward an active lifestyle. Pedestrian routes will be laid throughout the area, gardens and green zones will be created, and swimming pools and open spaces will become part of the everyday environment. This format is increasingly used in Dubai, where the climate and urban planning allow nature to be integrated into dense development.

Strategic location and the future of aviation

One of the key advantages of the project is its location. Crew Village will be built at an equal distance between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport, which is expected to become the largest aviation hub in the world in the future. This makes the project an important element in preparing for the phased transfer of operations to the new airport and ensures convenient logistics for cabin crew at all stages of the transition.

Against the backdrop of Dubai’s active investments in aviation infrastructure and the projected growth in the number of international routes, such residential projects are becoming an integral part of the industry’s sustainable development. They allow airlines not only to attract staff, but also to retain them by offering a high quality of life.
