In Dubai, The Plaza — a new public space in the Uptown Dubai district implemented by DMCC — was officially opened. The project covers 21 thousand m2 and is designed to host corporate events, international conferences, concerts, and large city events with a simultaneous capacity of up to 4 thousand people.
The Plaza is located at the very center of the business cluster and physically connects Uptown Tower with the commercial and residential buildings of the district. Thus, a unified urban space is created, becoming the core of the entire Uptown Dubai master plan.
From construction to active urban life
The development of large districts in Dubai is increasingly focused not only on office space but also on creating an active public environment. Developers are prioritizing public space infrastructure that supports daily business activity, attracts tenants, and enhances investment appeal.
The Plaza is equipped with modern stage infrastructure, professional lighting systems, and digital screens. This allows events to be held year-round and enables the venue to be quickly adapted for different formats. This approach strengthens Uptown Dubai’s position as a platform for international forums in trade, finance, and technology.
DMCC Executive Chairman and CEO Ahmed bin Sulayem emphasized that the opening of The Plaza marks an important milestone in the district’s development. According to him, the space creates a new point of attraction by bringing together business, culture, and public life, and also reinforces Dubai’s strategic goal of becoming one of the best cities in the world for living, working, and investment.

A new stage of commercial growth for Uptown Dubai
The launch of The Plaza coincides with another phase of expansion in the district. Currently, two new commercial towers of 23 and 17 floors are under construction. They will add about 62 thousand m2 of Class A office and retail space.
After full completion of the project, the total area of Uptown Dubai will reach 538 thousand m2. Of this, 232 thousand m2 will be allocated to modern high-class offices. This will place the district among the largest integrated business centers in the emirate.
Amid high competition among Dubai’s business clusters, the combination of office infrastructure and large-scale public spaces is becoming a key factor for attracting international companies. Flexible workspaces, event zones, and a developed urban environment increase the location’s value for global tenants.
Strategic role in Dubai’s economy
Uptown Dubai is developing as a multifunctional district combining business, residential, retail, and event infrastructure. This format aligns with the emirate’s long-term strategy to attract multinational corporations and strengthen Dubai’s status as a global business center.
The opening of The Plaza demonstrates the transition from the construction phase to active operation and the “revitalization” of the district. The space is expected to increase visitor flow, enhance business activity, and strengthen the Uptown Dubai brand on the international stage.
Given the continued growth of business tourism and the hosting of international exhibitions and forums, the new venue may become an important element of infrastructure supporting Dubai’s economic development in the coming years.
